You’re at a bus stop in Bangalore, wondering if you just missed the airport bus. Again. The Vayu Vajra (KIA bus) is a lifesaver, but guessing its arrival time in Bangalore traffic is a gamble.
The official app is Namma BMTC. It's the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation's own tool and the most direct source for tracking their buses, including the airport routes. It’s on both Android and iOS. It's supposed to give you real-time tracking, letting you see your bus moving on a map to help you time when you leave for the stop.
But the app has a reputation. The live tracking isn't always reliable—sometimes it works perfectly, and other times it crashes right when you need it. Lately, users have been saying the newer electric AC buses, some of which are on Vayu Vajra routes, don't show up on the app at all.
That's why you need a backup plan.
A few third-party apps use BMTC's data, often in a cleaner interface. Moovit is a popular option that works well in Bangalore. It shows you arrival times and route maps for the Vayu Vajra buses.
Tummoc is another good one. It mixes bus and metro schedules, and you can buy your BMTC bus pass right in the app, which saves some hassle.
