We’ve all been there. Staring at a street corner, wondering if you just missed your bus. That feeling of dread—did it come early, or is it 15 minutes late?—is the worst. But whether you’re in Washoe County or trying to get around Las Vegas, there’s an app to fix that.
First, you need to know which RTC you're dealing with. The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) runs the show in both Southern Nevada (Las Vegas) and Washoe County (Reno), but they use different apps.
Las Vegas (Southern Nevada): rideRTC
For Las Vegas, you want the rideRTC app. It's the official one from RTCSNV. You can buy your pass right in the app, which means no more digging for cash or hunting down a ticket machine. Just get the pass on your phone and hit 'activate' when you see the bus.
The app does what you need it to do:
- Trip Planning: Tell it where you're going, and it gives you directions.
- Real-Time Tracking: See your bus moving on a map. This is the whole point—no more guessing.
- Mobile Ticketing: Buy and keep your passes on your phone.
The RTC of Southern Nevada also works with the Transit app. It provides similar real-time info and planning tools, and RTC riders get a free subscription to their paid "Royale" service.
Washoe County (Reno): The Transit App
In Washoe County, just download the Transit app. RTC Washoe made it their official app for riders. It handles everything:
- Real-time bus info and service alerts.
- Trip planning for regular routes and the on-demand FlexRIDE service.
- In-app fare payment.
